Dream is an American Minecraft YouTuber from Orlando, Florida, and one of the biggest gaming creators of the 2020s. His Minecraft Manhunt series and the Dream SMP roleplay server made him YouTube’s breakout gaming channel of 2020, and he spent years known only by a white smiley-face mask before choosing to show his face.

When did Dream face reveal?
Dream announced on September 19, 2022 that a face reveal was coming, and on October 2, 2022 he uploaded “hi, I’m Dream”. It was a planned, deliberate reveal after years of anonymity, and it became one of the most-watched moments in YouTube history for a gaming creator, with more than 73 million views and 4.7 million likes.
The reaction was huge and mixed. Alongside support, there was a wave of memes and mockery about his appearance. In June 2023 he deleted the video because of that backlash, and it was later made public again. The whole episode is why “Dream face reveal meme” still trends years later.
Who is Dream?
Dream created his channel in 2014 but took off in 2019 with Minecraft Manhunt, where he tries to beat the game while friends hunt him down. In April 2020 he started the Dream SMP, an invite-only server whose improvised storylines drew more than a million concurrent viewers in early 2021. He also moved into music, signing with Republic Records in 2022 and releasing the EP To Whoever Wants to Hear in 2023.
His career has had controversy too, most notably the 2020 speedrun investigation, after which he admitted in 2021 that a mod he used had altered drop rates, while saying it was unintentional.
